Chelsea’s birthday and ornament exchange

Happy Friday, my friends!  I hope that you all have a wonderful weekend planned, whether you are relaxing at home, finishing up holiday errands, or maybe even doing some early celebrating.  Tomorrow afternoon we will be heading to Greensboro for Kenny’s annual family Christmas party, which is always a blast.  Kenny’s dad is one of eight children, all of whom live in the Greensboro area.  It’s so much fun hanging out with all of the cousins, and it’s even more fun now that the cousins are having their own kids.  I know that Gavin is going to have a blast playing with everyone.

Luckily, the adults have decided to nix the annual gift exchange.  Once people start having families, the gift-giving can start to seem a bit excessive.  We made the decision this year to have just the kiddos exchange gifts, which is so much more reasonable.  Gavin will be buying for little Nora, who is a huge Peppa Pig fan.  I found this adorable Peppa Pig Family Campervan that I think Nora will absolutely love.  I can’t wait for Gavin to give to her!

As far as other festivities are concerned, last night I got together with some of my girlfriends for an ornament gift exchange.  Chelsea is one of my very best friends that I met through my job.  Through her, I have been lucky enough to meet Kayla, Elizabeth, and Kim.  They are such a fun group of girls, and I can’t wait for our girls’ weekend in Savannah next month!

Anyhow, I digress.  I found a really beautiful ornament that shockingly didn’t break the back during my trip to Grove Park Inn  last month.  I ended up with a cute snowman ornament that will be perfect on my tree with colored lights, so I was thrilled.  I think we were all happy with our wares and ready to get the party started with some pizza, snacks, and adult beverages.

We spent the next couple of hours just drinking, snacking, and catching up on life.  Chelsea is turning the big 2-9 today, so it was nice to celebrate with her also.  I gifted her with this Yankee Candle Company Balsam & Cedar Large Jar Candle amazing smelling candle.  There is nothing that reminds me more of Christmas than this scent!

Have a great weekend, everyone!

What is one festive item you have on your agenda this weekend?

Have you done any ornament or White Elephant gift exchanges?  If so, what is a great gift that you have received?
