Hi there everyone! I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend. Mine was a great mix of holiday fun, families, and……..Kleenex. Yup, I started to feel slightly crummy Friday evening, and by Saturday afternoon my cold was in full force. That didn’t stop me from having some holiday fun though. The show must go on!
Friday evening Kenny worked late, so I cooked our last Home Chef meal (rotisserie chicken…..perfect for the chilly night) and wrapped Christmas gifts. Nothing terribly exciting, but a perfect activity for a Friday evening. I am typically pretty beat on Fridays, so I often try to put Gavin to bed a bit earlier so that I can get to that couch sooner! #sadbuttrue
Saturday morning was a cold one. We actually had some freezing rain the night before, but that didn’t stop Gavin and I from heading to his Kindervillage music class. Gavin absolutely loves music class, and even though he is one of the more “active” kids in the class, I still think it really does benefit him. He loves interacting with the toddlers in the class, singing/dancing, and banging on the drums. We typically go on Thursday evenings, which always tires him out and makes him more than ready for the crib when we get home. #musicclassforthewin
*Side note…..I was still not feeling too bad at this point. I sincerely apologize if I passed on my germs to anyone at class!
While we were at class, Kenny was preparing a delicious brunch for us. Then it was more playtime, books, and lunch before Gavin went down for his nap. While he rested, we packed up the car. As soon as Gavin woke up, we hit the road to celebrate an early Christmas with Kenny’s family in Greensboro.
Kenny’s dad is one of eight children, so we love to get together with all of uncles/aunts/cousins for all of the holidays. The kid pool just keeps growing, and Gavin has an absolute blast chasing around all of his “friends”. There is just something so sweet and special about watching cousin love grow!
I tried to get a decent nights sleep Saturday night, which didn’t really happen. I spent the vast majority of the night hacking up a lung. On top of that, I think I took too much cough syrup, and woke up having to puke around 2am. Luckily, I felt immediately better, which tells me it was likely just the medicine. Oh well. Such is life. The next day we were all up early, ready to get our gift-opening vibe on! I took a quick shower to rinse some puke remnants out of my hair, and was ready to go! #reallifemama
Gavin scored a lot of loot from his grandparents and aunts and uncles. He is one lucky kid, that’s for sure. One of the most adorable gifts that he received was this Melissa & Doug Sunny Patch Trixie Ladybug Padded Bat and Soft Ball Set“. How adorable is this? I love Melissa & Doug toys, not just for their excellent quality and design, but also for how cute they are.
Another awesome gift? You can’t go wrong with Paw Patrol! If anyone out there is looking for gift ideas for a boy ages 2-4, look no further. The boys go nuts for Rocky, Zuma, Chase and the gang! Gavin will definitely enjoy playing with this Paw Patrol Action Pack Rescue Team.
The rest of the day was spent relaxing on the couch watching football, sipping wine, gorging ourselves on turkey, and capping up the day with Cheesecake Factory cheesecake. Really, is there anything better?
Tell me about your weekend! Also, don’t miss my post later this week….”Gift giving for children. How much is too much?”
